Něco podobného dosud viděl jen odborný tým restaurátorů! Současné restaurování oltáře se blíží ke svému dokončení. Příští rok v Gentu uvidíme Gentský oltář v plné parádě.

A 2010 Getty grant to examine and stabilize the iconic Ghent Altarpiece, as part of the Panel Paintings Initiative, resulted in an innovative new website, Closer to Van Eyck: Rediscovering the Ghent Altarpiece. Entirely open-source, the website provides a valuable tool for both scholars and the general public to understand more about one of the greatest works in the history of art.

Each centimeter of the beautiful altarpiece was scrutinized and professionally photographed at extremely high resolution in both regular and infrared light. The photographs were then digitally stitched together to create highly detailed images that allow for study of the painting at unprecedented microscopic levels. The website itself contains 100 billion pixels.
